Exploring beagle colors

Traditional black, tan, and white

Blue, tan, and white (dilute black AKA "silver beagles")

Liliac (light chocolate/tan)

Chocolate/dark brown tricolor

All pictures are of our own beagles or offsprings of them

Above is a traditional beagle on the left with a dark copper color head, black back, black nose, and dark brown eyes. When born they are all black and the white areas stay white while the rest changes. On the right is a lilac beagle which has a dilute chocolate (tan) body with a pink nose and light "golden" eyes. They are born tan and stay tan, just get a slightly darker tan. Beautiful dogs!

Above is the transformation in color of a silver beagle. They start out gray at birth and by one year of age they have a light brown face with a dilute black backside. The color changes are dramatic. (Yes, this is the same dog)
